Today was such a special day at Bickford Oswego. With the help of the family of our beloved resident David, who is now up in heaven, we spent the day planting our vegetable and flower gardens alongside our residents. We truly couldn’t have done it without Chris and Deb. Thank you for all you do for our community and for continuing to share your time and love with us. Your kindness means so much. A huge thank you as well to all of our residents who rolled up their sleeves and helped make our gardens beautiful. After all of our hard work, we wrapped up the day with happy hour in the courtyard, enjoying records, wine, great company, and admiring everything we accomplished together. It was the perfect sunny day for such a fun event!

We absolutely love having student volunteers visit us here at Bickford Oswego Assisted Living & Montessori Memory Care! Just this week, we had the pleasure of hosting Hunt Club’s Honor Choir concert and a wonderful performance from the talented students at Prairie Point Elementary. Not only were we treated to beautiful music from these amazing young people, but we also had some fun getting a little wild with balloon volleyball! What truly stood out, though, was the kindness these students showed. They were so open, welcoming, and eager to talk with our residents, treating everyone with dignity and respect. Way to go, School District 308, for helping teach the next generation the importance of compassion, kindness, and respect. Your students are a wonderful reflection of the community!

By utilizing Montessori-based principles and focusing on resident engagement as a means to keep our residents on the Higher Path, Our residents have a purpose. Chris and Deb became part of our Bickford family when their Dad moved in with us. To our delight, they shared their horticulture knowledge with us last year and helped us plant our flowers and vegetables. Their Dad has since passed but they remain an integral part of our family and came again this year to help our residents plant another garden. Martha is one of our residents who enjoys flowers. She sat with us during the planning stage and offered her suggestions for specific flowers. Our annual Breakfast at Tiffany’s Mother’s Day celebration was extra special this year — we even had a visit from Elvis! We had an amazing time singing along, dancing, and making wonderful memories together.
