Celebrating day two of National Assisted Living Week in style. Today was Tie Dye Tuesday and our residents and staff were looking GROOVY! This afternoon brought a sweet surprise when the Bickford Ice Cream Truck stopped by! The sound of the ice cream truck brought back memories of days gone by, hearing that familiar music choosing a favorite treat, and enjoying it with friends. Today my mom got one peice of quiche and a roll. She is supposed to be on a mechanical tenderized menu which the hospice nurse requested AGAIN today. My mom can no longer make her own decisions. Why wasn't she given mashed potatoes, which was on the menu. And, I requested dessert, peach crisp, and they told me they were all out and offered no substitutes. This is unacceptable for $8000 a month. Whether she eats it or wastes it, she she be given food like the rest.

I am particularly grateful for the care mom received following her fall. During recovery, she had additional needs and the staff provided excellent care with compassion.

Most aspects of her care are stellar, but staff is still not helping my mom load her toothbrush. She is unable to physically do this herself. Now we have three cavities to pay for. In over two years, I have just now had to buy her second tube of toothpaste.

We don't mind loaning out our phone charger. We do mind when it is not returned.

So much is absolutely delightful! Two issues I can't seem to get consistently resolved are: I've only had to buy one tube of toothpaste in two years. My mom needs help loading her toothbrush twice a day. It's not happening. The other is, after multiple requests to open Linda's blinds every day, as her doctor wants her to see the sun, I still have to open them myself, in the afternoon, more days than not. I have this request, written very politely, on a whiteboard in her room.

I love the staff, and the food, and am excited by the upcoming remodel, but am disappointed that after relating the doctor's advice about my mom seeing the sun, I still have to open the blinds more often than not. It's also concerning to me that I've only had to buy one tube of toothpaste in two years. I believe the care orders include preparing the toothbrush for mom to use.
