What a Monday!!! Today at Bickford of Marshalltown was just the most Mondayest Monday EVER!!!! Super busy! Super fun! Super sweet! BINGO was a blast! The most rewarding "thing" I personally witnessed today, was one of the kitchen staff assisting a Resident. He was just having a rough afternoon when one of the cooks saw some tears rolling down the Resident's face. What a fantastically busy day at Bickford of Marshalltown! Great activities today, but the best one was the Birthday Party! July 31st we celebrated everyone who had another trip around the sun, and there were a few!! BFMs' and Residents sang and ate cake perfectly created by our amazing kitchen staff! Activities in the afternoon here at Bickford today, were back to back!! We had garden time in the courtyard and then courtyard chat with the Residents..We all sat in the shade and it was fabulous! A BFM brought the Residents cookies and water to wash them down!! Bickford loves bus rides!! Today we went for a bus ride to State Center to visit the lovely Rose Garden! What a pleasant place! Even the house next door has gorgeous flowers! Residents were overjoyed! We then visited our friend Sam the Skeleton. He's a tall cup of scary! We all need a day of pampering, and here at Bickford of Marshalltown, we understand the assignment!! Even if it was just a BFM wearing the facial mask, the laughs could be heard throughout the Branch! Lots of lotion hand massages and friends were gathered for a wonderful afternoon! After Spa Day, we did some stretches with our arms, hands, legs and feet. What was once thought of as a challenge by Residents, ended up being their very own success stories!!! Today was OJ's day!!! Some Residents will get so happily enthusiastic about a bus ride to OJ's! We had a table reserved and waiting for us. Independence, with a touch of assistance while ordering their food, really makes a difference. We all had a blast, and a great meal!! If there is one thing that Residents here at Bickford can agree on, it's Bible Study! We sit together, sing and read the Good Book! Cindy is a wonderful Chaplain and the Residents love her! One of today's activity was nail care. The lovely ladies sitting at the table......what a collection of happy, sweet, helpful and funny residents! While I did one resident's nails, the others sang along to the perfectly chosen music on Alexa. We have Residents helping other Residents and it is just the sweetest thing to watch.
