Whether it's choosing activities or suggesting a restaurant for a lunch outing, every voice matters. Our residents enjoyed their Mexican lunch at El Toro Loco. We took 3 amigos: Helga, Jose, and Dan to a fun outing. We brushed up on Spanish, shared travel stories and of course enjoyed the food! Choice is at the heart of our Montessori Inspired Lifestyle. Our residents shared at our most recent Resident Council meeting that they wanted music and opportunities to dance on Mondays, and from their idea, “Bickford Jam” was born! One of our talented residents, Sarah, takes the lead by creating the playlist for each gathering. Residents are encouraged to share their song requests with her before jam time, making it a truly resident-led experience. Our Back to the 50’s Day was a blast! To top off the fun, we cooled down with delicious creamsicle ice cream floats and root beer floats generously sponsored by Bayada. As we sipped these sweet treats, residents shared smiles, laughter, and memories that made the day even more special. Our Back to the 50s Party at Bickford was a rockin’ and rollin’ kind of afternoon! Adrienne and Bernie (Enriched Moments- Arts Connect entertainers) had us twisting through the decades with toe-tappin’ tunes, bringing smiles, claps, and plenty of happy memories along the way. Our daily exercise classes at Bickford of Chesapeake are always a favorite! We are so thankful for Averett University's nursing students who spend part of their clinical rotations at various Bickford Senior Living communities. Our Montessori Engagement Coordinators help create meaningful opportunities for the students to engage in activity programming and spend one-on-one time with our residents. We hope these experiences inspire a lifelong passion for serving older adults, just as they have inspired us. After all, seniors are pretty awesome! We truly thank River Walk Garden Club for giving our residents the opportunity to serve as judges for their Yard and Lawn of The Month awards this Summer. Creativity was on full display as residents gathered together to paint beautiful ceramic pieces that will soon become unique refrigerator magnets. Each design reflected personal choice, self-expression, and imagination.
