We’re always grateful for the Averett nursing students who join us weekly at Bickford of Virginia Beach! Their time and energy bring so much warmth to our community. Recently, they spent the afternoon painting wood crafts alongside our residents — creating beautiful keepsakes and even better memories together. Nearly every evening, these lovely ladies are often found working together on a puzzle by the Cozy Corner at Bickford of Virginia Beach. Their teamwork and friendly conversation fill the space with warmth as each piece finds its perfect place. It’s these simple moments of connection that make our evenings so special. It was shopping day at Bickford as residents browsed our Bingo Bucks Yard Sale! Each resident got to “shop” using Bingo Bucks they’ve won in recent games, picking out useful items that caught their eye. What a fun time we had at our 5th Annual Bickford of Virginia Beach Chili Cook Off! Congratulations to our chili winners: First Place - Andrew Mace of Compass Senior Solutions, Second Place - Matt Silver of Equilibrio Home Health, and Third Place - Jaime Gerhardt of Fox Rehab. Also, thank you to all our other chili, cornbread, or cider contributors: Archer Curro of Trinity Hospice, Edie Hawkins of Time of the Season, Lindy Casale-Rinaldi of Amedysis Hospice, Matt Jones of First Light Home Care, Sara Likens of Neptune Cremation, and Bickford of Virginia Beach’s Executive Director Loryn and Family Advocate Heather. We were also joined by many, many other senior care professionals! Our residents enjoyed tasting the various chilis and were able to vote for their favorites! Residents of Bickford of Virginia Beach had a wonderful time attending the annual air show at Oceana Air Base. The highlight of the day was watching the incredible Blue Angels perform. At Bickford of Virginia Beach, our residents enjoy staying active with our indoor walking club. Walking is a safe and effective way for seniors to keep their bodies moving, improve balance, and maintain strength. It also lifts spirits and supports overall well-being.
