The Bickford Peoria Easter Eggstravaganza event was a huge success today! We started the day with an egg hunt, enjoyed a delicious brunch for lunch with the Easter Bunny and ended the day with BINGO with special Easter flower prizes! Happy Easter to all of our residents, families and staff!

Bickford Peoria would like to extend a thank you to the AT&T store off of Allen Rd in Peoria for coming out to our branch today! Nate was able to help our residents with cellphone questions and gave tutorials on how to use certain apps. He was very informative, kind and helpful. Thank you again to AT&T!

Bickford Peoria residents had a messy but fun time dyeing Easter Eggs with Cool Whip and food coloring! The eggs will be served at our Brunch with the Easter Bunny on Friday. Thank you to Sara at St. Francis Woods for sponsoring this fun Easter activity!

Congratulations to the winner of our first 50/50 raffle fundraiser, Loretta!! We proudly raised $100 with this raffle. Of course, half went to our winner and half will go to our staff appreciation fund! Stay tuned for our April fundraiser!

Yesterday, Bickford Peoria hosted a Notable Peoria Women presentation given by Connie Tomczyk from The Peoria Historical Society. It was interesting to learn about the women who have helped build and shape the city of Peoria! That’s why two simple habits—layering clothing and staying hydrated—are especially important during this season. Layering clothes allows the body to adjust easily to changing temperatures. As we age, our bodies can become less efficient as regulating temperatures, making it harder to stay comfortable. Wearing multiple light layers instead of one heavy garment makes it easier to add or remove clothing throughout the day, helping reduce overheating or getting too cold. Breathable fabrics like cotton are ideal, and a light jacket or sweater can make all the difference during brisk spring mornings. Hydration is just as crucial. Many older adults may not feel thirsty as often as they should, but the body still needs a steady intake of fluids to function properly. Dehydration can lead to fatigue, dizziness, and even more serious health issues. With spring activities increasing – gardening, walking, or simply spending more time outdoors—it’s important to drink water regularly, even if you don’t feel thirsty.
