Meet our first contestant for our pumpkin decorating contest!!! This beauty was submitted by Angeleah Seelie of Heart to Heart Hospice. As you can see, there is plenty of room on the table for more submissions. If you want to participate, or just remain a spectator, join us for our Fall Fest on Saturday, October 25th, from noon to two. There will be plenty of activities to enjoy, from pumpkin and door decorating contests, to a bouncy house, face painting, and of course a good old fashioned cookout. All that is needed to attend is an RSVP to our Family Advocate, Josh Warren, and you’re good to go! We look forward to seeing you there!

Our weekly dine out option at Bickford of Crown Point is an opportunity for our residents to fulfill a special craving they may be experiencing, partake in a new menu item, or just spend time with friends in a varied environment. In any case, they consistently return back home with a satisfied stomach, big grins, and infectious laughter!

The residents in Mary B’s were ready for a serious distraction from the noise and chaos happening as a result of the recent flooring install. So, we decided to play a fun game of Halloween Jingo, which is similar to Bingo, but instead provides a clue to the item that needs to be covered. Do any of you know what a witch’s beauty mark consists of? I didn’t, but some of the residents did! They really enjoyed this game, and some players were lucky candy winners! By the way, the answer was “a wart!”

The “Bickford Bucks Shop” is open for business! After several bingo sessions, and countless wins, this monthly shop gives our residents an opportunity to spend their “bucks” on anything from silly socks, to personal care items. It was a fun and successful hour of browsing, contemplating purchases, and of course spending!

With over two decades of experience in healthcare and a deep passion for geriatric care, Marcia brings both expertise and heart to every patient interaction. *** About Marcia Marcia’s journey in healthcare began as a CNA working in nursing homes, where she discovered her calling to serve the elderly. She earned her ADN from South Suburban College in 2002, followed by her BSN from Governors State University in 2016 and her MSN from Lewis University in 2021, with a focus on geriatrics. For 20 years, she cared for patients at Christ Hospital’s orthopedic unit in Oak Lawn, IL, and most recently worked in pain management. Although attendance is down in exercise class due to the flooring installation, we still have some devoted residents that show up - no matter what! Today, one of our newer residents, Shirley, decided to join Larry and Gail. She had everyone giggling, as she cracked silly jokes throughout, and made the session even better, because as you know, “laughter really is the best medicine!”

Our Bickford of Crown Point team walked to end Alzheimer's! #walk2EndAlz It was a beautiful, hot, breezy day to come together to raise funds and awareness for our loved ones impacted by Alzheimer's. Some walked in honor of someone we lost to Alzheimer's; some walked because they are a caregiver for someone with Alzheimer's; and some walked because they have Alzheimer's. Thank you to everyone who supported our team!
