I think there has been good improvement in that last month or so. It seems more concern is shown for the residents with your new program. Also the CNAs have thanked me for coming by to see my Mom. I'm excited to meet the new director. I have missed the last Zoom meetings due to work. I'm sure they were informative.
Again, I just don't know what to say. I had hopes that things would be improving only to find that all of my Dad's bedding had gone missing and that he has been sleeping on his mattress pad with only a throw for a covering. No one called me or let me know. While I have been there, I assumed that his bedding was being washed due to an accident and never once thought that his 4 sets of sheets, a blanket and a quilted comforter were gone. We have replaced everything and I certainly hope that these don't disappear as well and that my Dad is never allowed to sleep the way he has been recently. I gave the 3 because at least the gaping hole in his ceiling has been patched after 4 months.
Appalling. I am so frustrated and discouraged by more staff losses and seemingly NO response from corporate. They come in and promote a great new program but neglect to fix problems that already exist and have been loudly brought to their attention to no avail. Last time I was in there was only one CNA (agency) for the entire Mary Bs unit. Is that really acceptable? I would truly appreciate some response from corporate.
I think you are trying. I've noticed more staff and that they actually say Thanks for Visiting. Which I appreciate!!! I hope the new program brings good things to the residents.
I am disappointed with the amount charged vs care received. Average memory care rates in Bloomington is less than 7k per month. Maintenance is poor. The TV in Mary B's has been out for about 2 months. A small replacement was available for a while playing repeated Golden Girls episodes from a DVD. Now gone. Mary B's very frequently has odors. Trash needs to be emptied more frequently from rooms. Most regular Bickford staff seem to care for residents pretty well. Some are outstanding. However agency staff not as much. A lot of texting and time is spent on cell phones. Fortunately some regular staff folks perform quite well and are very caring. I wish the other half would take note. 3+ years ago I would brag about Bickford, the last couple of years I cannot make much of a recommendation. Bring back the monthly newsletter. Current nursing staff members deserve high marks. They are doing their job well. I hope the recent (2-3weeks) management changes at Mary B's show more positive results. For now I give a score of 2. I very much hope that I can return to scoring 4's and 5's soon.
I am really dismayed that Bickford felt the need to increase the already high rates. I can't speak for the Assisted Living side/ but for the Memory unit it is unbelievable. There are a lot more negatives than there are positives. I have named many in the past. I ventured in to the AL side on a Saturday and was saddened to see that there were no calendar of activities. Since the contract I was given when moving my Mom to memory unit specified no increases to the level of care, I will not be paying the increase. The long term staff and my mothers age are the only things preventing me moving her.
Too little -too late. Seems we get lots of promises without much action. Mary Bs is still a mess. Corporate should be ashamed to have let it get this bad and then seemingly leave the branch to deal with it without any support. And then to be notified of a BIG increase in fees. Forget it. I am planning to withhold our payments until I see action and improvement.
I've expressed my dissatisfaction with the state I found my mother in, which was neglect. If you care about feedback, I expect to receive follow-up.
I just know what to think anymore. The last director only lasted a little more than a month. I get my hopes up and then it crashes. I feel good about the staff coming to help and I wish them well. But Bickford needs consistency in the administrative staff most of all!
I see reasons for hope with the new hires. Certainly steps are being made in the right direction, however we were notified today of a price increase, which could be justified IF our Dad had received the care he paid for in the past. As it is, this hits a very wrong note coming after some subpar care by CNAs, no cleaning professional or dietary staff.
