What a great sight to see today! Patricia, Jane and Richard were all out reading the paper this morning. We subscribe to the Columbus Dispatch and have copies in the piano room at the foot of our staircase. We love walking through the branch and seeing our residents sitting with each other, while practicing social distancing, and reading with each other and discussing the current events. Bickford is a family, home-like environment and that’s exactly what this moment was reminding us.

The flamingos stopped at two more houses before returning to Bickford for the holiday weekend. We’re giving them a rest before we send them back out to flock more homes next week! Thank you to every participant and donor in our fundraiser so far! We have raised over $700 already and we’re not slowing down! Please let us know if you want to flock someone and support our fight to End Alzheimer’s!

There’s just something about sitting on the front porch, rocking in rocking chairs and learning about life from those who have lived it well. Ed was telling Nick about his trip around the world backpacking a few years ago! Ed and his son were traveling for 4 months in incredible places you could only read about seeing in person. He shared his favorite place he went was probably Jordan but it was very difficult to pick. We can learn so much from our elders if we just take a moment to sit and rock in rocking chairs.

Bickford of Bexley hosted a Red, White and Brew event for our referral sources to stop by and connect in a socially distant way today! Bickford is maintaining our mission of being a community resource for all! We want to share about what Bickford can offer to the community but also learn from other organizations and their services so that way we can connect our families with resources to help them on their journey. COVID-19 has made it more challenging to keep in contact but we’re still making things happen. We also had to snap a picture of Beatrice resting before the event. She works so hard at the branch, we wouldn’t be Bickford of Bexley without her!
