Ms Barb was one of our birthdays this month! A favorite part of my day is getting a smile out of her... This woman is stronger than most, and we are blessed to have her here in Aurora. Her family couldn't be nicer, and they are here more often than not. This is another reason I love Bickford so much. I get to know so personally these residents, and their families, making my job more than a job. It's my home away from home, making us one big crazy extended family!

Cooking with William is always a popular activity - not only do we learn new cooking tips (and sample all of the dishes), but we reminisce about family holidays or cooking for our families. Today was extra special as William prepared stuffing/dressing for us from scratch. We ate and debated the true name of the dish - what do you call it, stuffing or dressing? I call it delicious. Happy Thanksgiving from our Bickford Family to yours!

We had to practice before Thanksgiving this year! We had our “Friendsgiving” potluck dinner with lots of yummy family favorites. Staff brought some of their crockpot favorites and we dined together enjoyed each others company. My very favorite picture (and my very favorite part of the evening) is the last one… Seeing our residents back in their element. These ladies jumped right in and started washing the dishes, wiping the tables and it literally made my heart happy. It took them back to the days of raising kids, cleaning up after the big holiday meals. I LOVE helping my people bring back these special memories and times!!

Independence comes in many different forms… On this particular day our residents in Mary B’s made their own snacks! It was a mini cheese pizza. They assembled, ate and helped clean up. We try to do different activities that spark their memories, and allow them to feel good doing something on their own. My favorite part?? Seeing them take the reins and help their fellow residents. For many it brings them back to the days they helped their own children make snacks.

My very favorite part of my job??? A full activity room with happy residents! I couldn’t be more pleased with the turnout for our weekly BINGO game. It really is the favorite activity of many!

My Mom is safe and happy

Oct 5, 2022

) Last November 2021, over half of my moms closet of clothes went missing. After a several month investigation, there were no answers. The ED had left and the Divisional Director of Operation and I agreed upon a credit to her account. To date, I still do not have the credit and we are goin on 1 year of dealing with this issue. The new ED has escalated this accounting issue 3 times. 2) The staff is very good and I am overall very pleased with (Name Removed), (Name Removed) and (Name Removed). However my mom can be a handful not wanting to move, potty or get dressed. So BFMs tend to leave her alone. Sunday, 10/2, upon my arrival I found her saturated in urine. Her nightgown was soaked from her chest to ankles and urine was pooled on the floor by her chair. That tells me they left her alone for several hours. (Name Removed) was training someone but was amazing. She helped me get my mom changed. She even came back to get her in the shower.

Need more consistent care. Things still not getting done on timely basis.

Comment- quality of meals both taste and variety still lacking. New director still unknown. She needs to meet with residents and be more personable. Perhaps still to early but previous directors were more known by this time. I have yet to meet her and my Mom has only very briefly met her once. New activity director (Name Removed) does a nice job. It's great to have someone in that position.

They have started increasing communication and really care

Too many times we need to remind staff things are not done for my mom or her room. Laundry, cleaning bathroom after accidents, keeping mom busy and out of her room

EVERY single staff member is kind, considerate and attentive. I'm confident my Mother is in great hands and well cared for. Thank you!!
